samsung ssd firmware update
I'm having problems with my SSD (samsung 850 PRO) on linux so I wanted to update the firmware. Let’s take my case, where I found that I had an Intel SSD. Each SSD maker, be it Intel or Samsung or Kingston or OCZ, has some sort of utility which will have the option to upgrade firmware. Before the update this card saw the SSD without read/write capability. I reinstalled windows and downloaded the magician software. It recognizes my SSD, I can run some benchmarks, but there's a message saying "this drive is not supported". So I couldn't exploit my SSD. This means, that if you have internet access SammyJo - you could in theory, build the firmware update disk, and apply the update before … Actually you shouldn't have to run a USB live boot to update the firmware. Since the upgrade I can use the SSD even for booting. Double-click the SSD Optimization Utility icon, and then click Yes to agree to run it. that's why i wanna update the firmware. My SSD benchmark is : Read 519 MB/S & Write 413 MB/S , i think i must have minimum 470 or 480 MB/S in writing speed !! As a workaround, Samsung suggest i download the firmware, along with a utility, and update it in a pre-boot environment. All that being said, I always update my drives to the latest firmware, I have many Samsung EVO's and Pro's. The SSD Optimization utility now runs in the background to optimize the data on the SSD drive. Turn on your Surface Pro 3, and then log on to Windows. RE: Samsung SSD SM841N Firmware Update No at the moment i dont have any issue with the SSD, just the writing speed is a little low compared to the version of samsung. TITLE: Intel Solid State Drive (SSD) Firmware Update VERSION: HP03 REV: A PASS: 1 DESCRIPTION: This package provides a tool that will run in Windows to update the Intel Solid State Drive (SSD) Firmware. You are prompted to shut down your Surface Pro 3 after it has updated the Samsung SSD disk drive firmware. Edit: I have read that Samsung recommends only updating firmware if you are having an issue with the SSD, for what it's worth, I've then gone into the samsung's website to download the firmware updater.
